FIVE FOURS September 3, 2020
During the pandemic, I could invite (via zoom) church members, book club, gay friends, et al. to let me try out a course on my original concept (not yet, or perhaps never) a book, The FIVE FOURs.
It would be a weekly class, where the goal is to learn, to grow. For everybody to learn, to grow.... We record all of the sessions. Not everyone will attend all of them. But anybody is invited. I wouldn’t use any graphics. People hate PowerPoint, unless it’s directly pertaining to their job, or something. Maybe just a written summary of the topic for the night.
I would schedule 2 days of dedicated work on the topic for myself. Then the class would happen, and the discussion part would be the best part! The teacher wants to learn everything. The wise teacher has a plan for the boundaries of the discussion, but is mostly interested in tapping the expertise of the students. The students would include my extraordinarily smart and experienced friends.
It sounds fun to me, and not so hard to get a following this way. The idea is a plea to help me write my book “The Five Fours” by critiquing the concepts as I present them.
I’ve thought about these issues a lot over decades, and have written quite a lot. But that’s mostly in my head, and what would be interesting for me is to take each of the 5 groups very seriously in terms of reading, reflecting, researching, and organizing, so the the discussion can be unusual and fascinating and recorded for all time.
This idea really excites me, but it may be more work than I’m actually willing to undertake. However…. ????
I foresee a 27 week course: 1: GENERAL INTRODUCTION; 2: Intro to SUCCESS, followed by a, b, c, d (3-6); followed by 7: Intro to the WESLEYAN QUADRILATERAL, plus a,b,c,d segments (8-11); followed by 12, Intro to LOVE, followed by a,b,c,d (13-16); followed by 17: Intro. to MALE ARCHETYPES, plus a,b,c,d (18-21): followed by 22 Intro to the BRAIN, followed by a,b,c,d (23,24,25,26); SUMMARY: 27. [Not necessarily in this order.]
